Aaron Wienkers is a Postdoctoral Researcher at ETH Zürich in the Centre for Climate Systems Modeling and the Environmental Physics group. His research focuses on air-sea interactions, mesoscale eddies, and developing novel analysis frameworks for petabyte-scale Earth System Model outputs. He develops advanced computational methods for climate modelling, with particular expertise in ocean dynamics and atmosphere-ocean coupling.
He completed his PhD in the Department of Applied Mathematics & Theoretical Physics (DAMTP) at the University of Cambridge — Trinity College, where his work on submesoscale ocean dynamics helped quantify uncertainties in atmospheric CO₂ and heat uptake in climate models. Before Cambridge, he was a Graduate Research Fellow in Flow Physics & Computational Engineering at Stanford University.
